How a pair of bionic legs meant this dog had his day.
For 11 year old Shetland sheepdog Robbie, things weren't looking good. After a series of medical problems including paw injuries, tumors and orthopedic issues had made walking difficult, his future was looking bleak.
Thankfully, this dog had his day when veterinarian Dr. Pete van Dongen suggested Robbie had orthopedic braces fitted on his hind legs.
Now Robbie is able to walk without damage to his hind legs.
Robbie suffers from Cushing's disease, which can cause a lack of energy and muscle weakness, which meant that the issues he faced were difficult to recover from. However, the work of Dr. van Dongen should mean that Robbie's legs are protected from further damage and also should help his movement.
Robbie's owner, Sharman Steel of South East London, has stated that while he has only recently received the orthopedic braces, he has taken to them well and often doesn't even notice he's wearing them.
Steel was reported as saying, "Sometimes when he's going up and down steps he has a fall but he picks himself up and carries on."
All of us here at Uniforms4Healthcare wish Robbie a speedy recovery and hope he enjoys using his new legs!
